General Information

Location

The conference will be held at the Institute of Advanced Study at the University of Warwick.  The University itself is located on the outskirts of the city of Coventry (and not in the town of Warwick which is about 8 miles away!).

The Institute of the Advanced Study can be found on the University’s interactive map by searching ‘IAS’.  There are also maps located prominently throughout the campus.

A quick summary

Air: Birmingham International is the nearest airport to the University of Warwick. It is approximately 20 minutes away by car/taxi, and there are regular buses and trains available from the airport.  Alternatively, there are rail links from the London-based airports to Coventry via Euston Station that should take 2-3 hours.

Train: Coventry is the nearest large train station to the university, and there are regular express bus services (#11) that run to and from the University.  There are also express buses (#U1) from the nearby town of Leamington Spa, which is a stop on the Cross Country and Chiltern rail networks.  Both stations also have taxi ranks.  A small local rail station called Canley runs trains to Birmingham and Birmingham International Airport, but is a good 20-30 minute walk from campus (no taxis are on site, but you can call to book a local service if needed).

Bus: Warwick University is easily accessible by buses from Coventry (#11) and Leamington Spa (#U1 express, and #11) rail stations.  There are also buses that run to and from smaller adjacent towns such as Kenilworth (#11), where there are attractive accommodation options.

Car: Warwick is accessible from many major routes (M1, M6, M5, M42, A5 and A14).  For those using Sat Nav, the postcode for the Institute of Advanced Study is CV4 7HS. Further information for drivers, including parking options, can be found here.

Accommodation

There are some rooms available to book on campus on a bed & breakfast plan; however, these are only released for booking 6 weeks in advance (e.g. early February for our conference).  For booking details see: https://bandb.warwick.ac.uk

Alternatively, there are many hotels to suit all budgets that are easily accessible to campus via either car or bus. There are good bus/road connections to campus from Coventry, Leamington Spa, and Kenilworth, and all have plenty of local amenities.  If you’re looking for a budget option, chains such as Travelodge, Premier Inn, and Ibis often have sales, but it’s worth looking at smaller, independent options for deals as well.
